The NFL Wild Card round is here, and the first game of the weekend is for the Seattle Seahawks to visit the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. 12 months ago, it would have been hard to imagine Geno Smith facing Brock Purdy in the playoffs, but these two divisional rivals have had impressive years.

Seahawks vs 49ers Wild Card Weekend Picks and Predictions
As division rivals, these teams know each other well, and both have had impressive seasons. The 49ers went 13-4 in the regular season, riding an incredible 10-game winning streak after a slow start.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks managed to sneak into the playoffs in Week 18 with a 9-8 record, still incredibly impressive given everyone’s expectations at the start of the season when Geno Smith was named the starter.
Brock Purdy’s story so far this season has been incredible, and it’s a testament to his performances that the idea of a third-string quarterback leading his team to the Super Bowl doesn’t sound far-fetched at all.
“Mr. Irrelevant” has proven to be a capable quarterback, throwing for 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
While his rise has received a lot of attention, the brilliance of Kyle Shanahan’s system is worth mentioning. Not wanting to discredit Purdy, this is a system that puts the QB in a perfect position to succeed without demanding too much of them.
The Seahawks are underdogs for a reason, even if the line has moved a bit more toward them since their start. While Geno Smith’s story is incredible, worthy of a Hollywood movie, and he should win Comeback Player of the Year, this is not an elite offense.
Seattle ranks 16th in weighted DVOA, behind the Raiders, Falcons and Steelers who haven’t made the playoffs.
Their defense is also not among the best in the league, as evidenced by their 20th ranking in DVOA. That’s a problem when the Niners’ defense ranks second. Alongside the brilliant Nick Bosa, who makes many of the headlines, they also have other elite talent, including Fred Warner and Javon Kinlaw, among others.
It’s also risky to side with any team in the playoffs by as much as 9.5, especially when they’re the No. 3 quarterback of the season, but the Niners possess an elite defense and offensive system that they should be able to master. and dominate their divisional rivals here.
They come into this 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games and should extend that streak on Saturday.
my best bet: 49ers -9.5 (-110 in FanDuel)

Seahawks vs 49ers Wild Card Weekend spread analysis
The line opened with San Francisco a 10-point favorite before moving to 9.5. I am confident that he will win the game and as mentioned above, he is my best bet to cover the spread. As we’ve already covered, I’ll use this to recommend the 49ers -4.5 in the first half to -130.
San Francisco has an incredible team on both sides of the ball and should be able to get out of the blocks here quickly against their divisional rivals.
The 49ers rank second in offensive weight DVOA behind only the Chiefs. The arrival of Christian McCaffrey has boosted the offense and added another dimension, making them even more dangerous.
Combine that with the talent of Brandon Aiyuk and the receiving room, and they are lethal when Purdy is allowed to pass. The real strength of this offense, aside from Shanahan, is the offensive line, which is excellent at opening up space for the running back and protecting Purdy just enough to keep him from feeling too much pressure.
Given what we’ve seen of San Francisco this season, they’re the best team here and should get this game off to a quick start, coming out firing in front of the home crowd. He’s played the Seahawks twice this year, and Shanahan will be very aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
Seahawks vs. 49ers Wild Card Weekend Over/Under Analysis
The total points line started at 43.5, but the line has been cut to 42 with plenty of money backing the Under. That is the way I would lean as well, although I am concerned that he has already moved 1.5 points and would say that his current position is probably correct.
I’m pretty sure we’ll see the 49ers offense show up and find the end zone a few times, but I’m not confident the Seahawks, who are 5-5 in their last 10 games, will score enough to take this one. Over. .
If we dig into Seattle’s recent games, we can see that the Under is 4-0 in their last four games overall. That’s something he could see moving to 5-0 after this game on Saturday.
Parlay of the same game Seahawks vs 49ers
Smith Over 16.5 rushing yards
Kittle anytime TD
Mitchell anytime TD
If you’re looking to place a same-game parlay for the Seahawks on Saturday at the 49ers game, then I have a +1,600 bet you’ll want to consider.
First off, we’ll root for Geno Smith to have 16.5+ rushing yards. There are a couple of reasons for this.
First, he’s good with his legs, eclipsing that total in 10 of 17 games this year, including four of his last five. Second, we’ll take this on because of the quality of the Niners’ defense, which will do a great job of putting him under pressure, something that should see him escape the pocket and look to extend plays with his feet.
Then we’re going to add a couple of 49ers guys to score touchdowns, because as you may have read above, I expect them to win this game easily.
First up is George Kittle, who got off to a slow start to his season but has really thrived in recent weeks, and the arrival of Brock Purdy has really boosted his performances. In the last four weeks, he has scored seven touchdowns and comes in hot against a Seahawks team that has allowed eight touchdowns to tight ends.
We will also include Elijah Mitchell. Look, he may be the team’s No. 2 running back, but this is a run-favoring offense. Mitchell scored twice last weekend, despite having five carries to Christian McCaffrey’s 10.
The team trusts him with the goal line work and his high odds really help us turn this SGP into a +1,600 monster.
