“As we said this morning, you never look back, whether you’ve won 8-9 in a row or lost eight,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “It’s ‘What have you done for me lately?’ What’s important is right in front of you. That’s the kind of thing you probably look back on and reflect on. It doesn’t really matter much right now. It will probably mean more at the end of the year when we look back and [say]”That was a good stretch and hopefully got us to where we want to be.”

antti raanta he made 24 saves for his first shutout of the season and 16 in the NHL for the Hurricanes (23-6-6), who shutout the Blackhawks 3-0 on November 14 in Chicago.

“Obviously, there have been some games this year where you felt like you hadn’t been able to make those key saves,” Raanta said. “And there have been too many targets where you’ve been like, ‘Oh no, why did I do that?’ I think that comes with thinking too much and worrying too much about something right now.

“The mindset today was that you wanted to be more in the moment, just worry about what’s going to happen next, not worry about what happened two minutes ago or what’s going to happen in five minutes. The great team wins, and it’s always good to keep clean sheet.”

Petr Mrazek He made an NHL career-high 46 saves for the Blackhawks (8-21-4), who have lost nine of 10.

“It’s a little frustrating not having enough offense to give Petr the scoring support he needs,” Chicago coach Luke Richardson said. “I think we need to be cleaner. Most of those shots were in the first period. I don’t know if there’s anything we could have done better than just be a little more accurate with our puck breaks in the first period.” I think that was pretty much the game right there.”

Chicago opened the second period with a power play and led 5-on-3 for 21 seconds when Fast was called for hooking at 1:20.

“I think we found our legs in the second period, and we were lucky it was only 2-0,” Richardson said. “I think the power play that started in second, we had a good chance or two; we just missed a low back gate. [Max] Domi’s hatch shot, I think that was two pretty good 5v3 chances, but the power play didn’t really generate much after that in 5v4. drumsticks on the blue line, so it was a bit frustrating.”

jordan martinook he increased the lead to 3-0 at 4:55 of the third period with a backhand slide in front of the net.

“We try to play fast, play on his end,” Necas said. “I think the first period was really good. Then in the second, we didn’t have much, but in the third, we were back to normal.”
