This is Oakville’s coronavirus update for Saturday, August 27, 2022, with COVID-19 news from the last week. Oakville reported five new hospitalizations and two more deaths, both highs for the month of August. But the number of cases in Halton continues to drop.

Four active outbreaks in the city: one in an unnamed congregate living space and the remaining three in nursing homes.

  • Chartwell Waterford (third floor)
  • Revera Churchill Place (all facilities)
  • Vistamere (entire facility)

Across Canada, the number of people hospitalized is finally going down, but the number of new cases continues to rise. The total number of active cases is almost 350,000 people, about 1% of the total population of Canada.

**Vaccine reservation: Fourth doses (second booster doses) of the vaccine are now available to anyone in Halton age 18 and older, though the fourth dose must be at least five months since your last dose and 90 days since you had COVID-19 .

Halton continues to reserve first and second dose vaccines for all residents six months and older, plus third dose boosters for anyone 12 years and older. First, second, and third doses for ages 12 and older are still available on a walk-in basis throughout the Region.
