Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline is speaking out for the first time in nearly a decade following their whirlwind romance that took place before the singer’s 13-year guardianship.
In a candid new TV interview, Federline – who shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, with Spears – talks about his ongoing battle to keep his kids as far away from the chaos surrounding his ex-wife as possible. In a series of exclusive interviews, parts of which will air this week on ITV news, the former dancer and his family reveal that Preston and Jayden have not seen Spears, who married Sam Asghari in June, for several months.

“The guys have decided they’re not watching her right now,” Federline shares. “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”
Speaking about Spears’ controversial conservatorship, which ended last November, Federline says “everything has been hard to watch, harder to live with, harder to watch my kids go through than anything else,” adding that “it’s been hard”.
After her father, Jamie Spears, released Spears from his guardianship, she took to social media to post multiple nude selfies. Federline reveals that, at the time, he felt compelled to apologize to her children for what they might experience as a result of her mother’s actions.
Insisting that the boys love Spears, he says, “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she’s trying to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what she does to them. It’s hard.”

“I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager who has to go to high school,” he adds.
By letting the cameras into his home, Federline hopes his ex-wife understands the stress that growing up in the shadow of a global star can cause.
“If there was a way, anyway, I could say something to just open [Britney’s] eyes – but I haven’t found that yet. I feel like, if I found that, I’d be on the phone trying to tell him,” she says.
Despite having questions about why the conservatorship lasted so long, Federline believes that Spears’ father acted with good intentions.
“I saw this man who really cared about his family and wanted everything to be okay,” she shares. “When Jamie took over, things fell into place. He saved her life.”
The 44-year-old says he would “welcome Jamie Spears back into children’s lives, especially if that’s what she’s after.” [they] I wanted… My priority has always been: It’s about what’s good for the guys.”
Asghari has since responded to Federline’s comments in a lengthy Instagram story.
“To clarify, my wife has never posted a nude selfie except of her butt, which is pretty modest these days. All other posts were implied nudity that can be seen in any lotion or soap advertisement,” she wrote. “There is no validity to her statement about distancing children and it is irresponsible to make that statement publicly. The kids are very smart and will soon turn 18 to make up their own minds and will eventually realize that the ‘hard’ part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model.”

The aspiring actor further expressed that he disapproves of Federline’s statements, despite having nothing against him personally.
“Kevin’s gravy train will end soon, which probably explains the timing of these hurtful statements. I don’t know him personally and I have nothing against him other than that he chose to vilify my wife,” Asghari continued. “Her character of him is revealed by his approval of the cruel 13-year-old Cship and his loyalty to Jaimie also indicates his approval of him at the time of her conception.”
“Things that are now considered normal problems and behaviors that are easily treated with therapy or other ways have been magnified to warrant a 13-year prison sentence. Anyone who approves of it is wrong to benefit from it in any way. I will not comment on this matter except to say that I have a job. [sic],” he concluded.
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007. For nearly 10 years, he has been married to Victoria Prince, a former volleyball player, since 2013. The two share daughters, Jordan, 11, and Peyton, 8. Federline also has two older sons, Kori. , 20, and Kaleb, 18, from a previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson.
