The second episode of HBO’s The Last of Us has arrived, turning the events of the game upside down as Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) journey truly begins. In last week’s episode, we got what essentially amounted to a prologue to the story, from Sarah’s (Nico Parker) death to Joel and Tess’ (Anna Torv) meeting Ellie for the first time. Now, the danger of this world is higher than ever, something that was very evident in the second episode.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for The Last of Us Episode 2. If you still need to catch up on HBO’s adaptation of the Naughty Dog game franchise, stop now and head over to HBO Max to watch first.
“Creo que ella realmente cree que [she’s doing her part to save the world]Torva said.
Of course, in doing so, she was also subjected to one of the worst things ever shown on TV when a clicker sprouted cordyceps from her mouth into Tess’s, making it the worst kiss of all time. Of course, don’t be too scared. While the scene was horrible for Torv, the grossest parts were the digital effects.
“It’s disgusting. I thought it was going to be different. That scene, when I read it, I thought it was going to be something very different, and the answer is that it’s all effects except the guy,” he said. . “As far as the infected were concerned, a lot of it was makeup, pretty incredible makeup, but all the tendrils and everything else is special effects.”
In the end, though we’ve said goodbye to Tess at this point, we may very well not have seen the last of her. After all, there can always be memories of the 20 years between the outbreak and the present day. However, if this was her final bow, now there’s a much more memorable way to exit the series.
